Overhead/Underground Line
At Western Iowa Power Cooperative, we work hard to ensure reliable electric service, and understanding the division of responsibilities between the cooperative and our members is key to maintaining smooth service. The cooperative is responsible for maintaining the meter itself, the power lines leading up to the meter, and all associated equipment up to the point of service. However, members are responsible for any electrical equipment on their side of the meter, including wiring, breakers, and other components inside your home or business. Understanding these responsibilities ensures clarity and helps prevent issues that could disrupt your electric service.
