Curious about how much your motor is costing you to run? Here's a quick breakdown of motor energy usage:

  • ¼ HP x 120V = 0.7 kWh per hour (16.8 kWh per day)

  • ½ HP x 120V = 1 kWh per hour (24 kWh per day)

  • 1 HP x 240V = 2 kWh per hour (48 kWh per day)

  • 2 HP x 240V = 3 kWh per hour (72 kWh per day)

  • 3 HP x 240V = 4 kWh per hour (96 kWh per day)

  • 5 HP x 240V = 7 kWh per hour (168 kWh per day)

  • 7½ HP x 240V = 10 kWh per hour (240 kWh per day)

  • 10 HP x 240V = 12 kWh per hour (288 kWh per day)

  • 15 HP x 240V = 15 kWh per hour (360 kWh per day)

For example, a ¼ HP motor running for 24 hours will use 16.8 kWh, costing approximately $2.31 at $0.1374 per kWh. Running the same motor for 3 hours will cost around $0.29.
