Energy Efficient Rebates

Western Iowa Power Cooperative developed a rebate program to promote the advantages of safe efficient electric heat, water heaters and air conditioners and to save our Members money.  If you have any questions about these rebates, please contact Harold Thomason at 800-253-5189 or 712-263-2943.

Rebates begin January 1, 2010 and are subject to change without advance notice.

Water Heaters

Water Heaters

Rebate

For new construction or replacement. Units must be 50 gallons

$200 per unit

or larger with 90 percent or greater energy factor.
All water heaters must be enrolled in the Switch Makes Cents
load control program.

Heat Pumps

Ground-Source Heat Pumps

For new construction or replacement and must meet minimum Energy Star requirements.

$1,800 per unit without attached Desuperheater

  • Open loop must be COP of 3.6 or greater and EER of 16.2 or greater 

$2,000 per unit with an attached Desuperheater

  • Closed loop must be COP of 3.3 or greater and EER of 14.1 or greater
  • Direct expansion must be COP of 3.5 or greater and EER of 15 or greater
Air-Source Heat Pumps
For new construction, replacment or add-on units.
Rebate amount is based on Energy Star rating.
  • SEER rating 14.5

$400 per unit

  • SEER rating 15 but less than 16

$500 per unit

  • SEER rating 16 and greater

$600 per unit

Central Air Conditioning

Rebate amount is based on Energy Star rating.
  • SEER rating 14.5

$100 per unit

  • SEER rating 15 but less than 16

$150 per unit

  • SEER rating 16 and greater

$200 per unit

Window & Portable Air Conditioners

Systems must meet or exceed Energy Star specifications

$25 per unit

Building Insulation

The rebate for insulation is 30 percent of installed insulation cost up to maximum of $500 per building. Qualifying buildings must have electric heat as the primary heat source. The insulation must be professionally installed by a registered contractor. Insulation that qualifies for rebate includes blown-in, insulating concrete forms, rigid Styrofoam panels or structural insulated panels.

Appliances & Appliance Recycling

Must meet or exceed Energy Star specifications.

Maximum appliance rebates per member-consumer account is $250.
  • Clothes Washers

$50 per unit

  • Refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers

$25 per unit

Participate in our appliance recycling program and turn your old, working refrigerator, freezer, or window air conditioner in for a $25 rebate per appliance. Limit three appliances per member. Contact Harold Thomason at 800-253-5189 or 712-263-2943 for details.
